David Caissie,

Ghostwriter, editor

Nothing intrigues me more than a good story; nothing motivates me like one I can help to tell.

For twenty years, I worked in technology. Although I enjoyed my work, it didn’t fulfill me. In 2011, I made a decision, one I would later describe as being the third best I’ve ever made, after marrying my wife and adopting my daughter. I decided to change my career to my lifelong passion: writing.

After acquiring my master’s degree in Technical Communication from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, I began writing for a few digital marketing agencies. Clients and co-workers often commented about how it seemed like I had been developing content for years, not months. In truth, I had been writing for myself my whole life.

Equipped with a quiet confidence about my new career choice, I soon transitioned to writing memoirs as a ghostwriter for Story Terrace and non-fiction books with Scribe Media. In those roles, my soft-spoken and open-minded personality enabled collaborative relationships with my authors that made content creation smooth and enjoyable.

I love to learn, so asking questions in a conversational manner to refine the best ideas comes naturally to me. As a perennial “people pleaser,” I also have an inherent ability to write in my clients’ unique voice. Professional, casual, serious, light-hearted, or a nuanced blend—I always adapt my writing style to provide high engagement with the target audience.

When an author delivers corrections to voice or content, I treat it like a gift. Truly understanding each author’s expectations for style and readability is crucial. I’ve often found purpose-driven feedback to be more helpful than a glowing review. Although my goal is to always provide the latter, I almost prefer the former, at least in the beginning of a project.

Since that fateful decision to change careers, I have assisted dozens of authors to write books in entrepreneurial, thought leadership, general business, finance, sales, technology, and other genres. Several of those projects achieved bestseller status in various categories on Amazon; one was named “One of the Top 5 Growth Hacking Books” by Entrepreneur.com.

I’m thrilled when I write something that helps a client to achieve their goals for a book; I’m equally excited every time I have the opportunity to create something special with a new project.

The written word has always been a perfect match to express my own thoughts as well. I regularly journal about my life as a proud adoptive father, devoted husband, eternal dog lover, die-hard sports fan, hack golfer, annoying amateur movie critic, and vulnerable human presented with lifelong challenges from a rare genetic condition (Fanconi-Bickel Syndrome).

Mindfulness, meditation, hope for the greater good, and living with an infinite curiosity remain steadfast in my mindset. Life is a wonderful mystery, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
